YMCA SWIM LESSON POLICIES:
*YMCA Swim Lessons are for members only. Please see our front desk membership staff to discuss our various membership options if you do not already have one and remember, current members can register for classes online one week prior to in-person registration at the Y.

Showers:

  • ALL swimmers MUST shower before entering the pool.

Bathroom:

  • Please have your child use the bathroom before the start of class. In the event there is an accident in the pool, it must be closed and treated which is an inconvenience to everyone.
  • Swim diapers are required for toddlers and are available for sale at the front desk.

Refunds:

  • If a participant cancels before the second class is held a pro-rated refund of both the program membership and program fee will be made, less a $15.00 bookkeeping fee.Program and membership fees will be refunded on a pro-rate basis any time during the session, less a $15.00 bookkeeping fee, for medical reasons supported with a written statement from a physician.

Sick Children:

  • In the best interests of all participants, children who are sick or have rashes should not attend swim class. If an instructor observes that a student is sick during class, the parent will be asked to take the child out of the lesson. Your cooperation will greatly be appreciated.

Make up classes:

  • Students receive the greatest benefit if they attend every class; we therefore urge parents to bring their children to every possible lesson. Due to student-instructor safety ratios and the length of some of our sessions, make-ups will usually not be available.

Cancellations:

  • In the event of inclement weather, call our primary phone number 860-347-6907 and select option # 6 our automated answering system will be updated regarding class and/or building closings.
  • If the YMCA cancels a full session, a full refund of program and membership fees will be made.
  • If the YMCA cancels a class other than inclement weather a credit will be mailed home.

Pool Deck:

  • For your child’s safety, no parents or spectators will be allowed on the pool deck or the benches on the pool deck. This area is for lifeguards, instructors and swimmers only. We ask that you do not stand in the hall between the pools, as that area needs to be kept clear in case of an emergency.
  • Please observe your child’s class from the spectator areas and, if you arrive for class early, please wait with your child, in the stands, until the instructor calls for class to begin.
